SCC NewsletterSeptember 2009SCC has stepped up its office staffing and will be moving location to a brand new building at Nairobi's Wilson Airport. Roger Sylvester has joined our team as Managing Director. Roger set up Bunson Travel, a well known tour operator in Nairobi, and was the Managing Director until he sold out last year. We are very happy to have him on board as he brings huge value to our team. We have Alice Karungari and Fatma Salim in the Reservations Office replacing Louise, and Amy Walker heading up the Touring Division, and two more staff will join the team in October when we move into new offices at the Wilson Business Park. Added to our portfolio we have added Rutundu Log cabins. Rutundu is situated on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya, at 10,200 feet or 3100 meters, just above the forest line. In total privacy, these log cabins are positioned overlooking Lake Rutundu, surrounded by alpine moorland, a home for unique bird life and vegetation. Rutundu is not only a nature lover?s paradise, but is also an ideal spot for fishermen and hikers. Both Lake Rutundu and Lake Alice, a two-hour walk further up the mountain, are stocked with Rainbow Trout, and provide excellent opportunities for fishing. We can offer horse riding safaris up from Kisima Farm through the Indigenous Cederwood forests up onto the moorlands to the log cabins. Willy & Sue Roberts have undertaken to re-vamp the lodge furnishings. Manda Bay will be basing a 5 seater helicopter out of Manda. It is an EC120. This will enable our guests to take scenic flights into the remote bush country surrounding the Lamu Archipelago and take off for fishing forays into formerly inaccessible destinations. Richard's Private Camp has been re- built after last season and attracting alot of interest as more people are searching for the true fly camping experience but with all the luxuries of a private home. On a lighter note - here's an elephant who has learn't to 'duck the fence' at Sirikoi Camp.
