We actively contribute to the financial needs of the Manda primary school which is situated on the southern side of Manda Island.  This is a government run school which has progressively increased in size and occupancy due to grants and donations made to the school.  The children are all from the island and they participate in the national syllabus.  We also wish to start a scholarship fund to help children with further education.

We also support  the Lamu Marine Conservation Trust, along with other co-owners of hotels and lodges in the Lamu district.  The Conservancy's aim is to develop a holistic approach to conservation and management of the marine resourses for the benefit of local communities.  Specifically , we patrol the reefs within the Manda Toto vicinity.  This area is one of two snorkelling zones used by the Lamu residents and visitors and is directly opposite manda Bay lodge.
